It is Deepavali, the festival of lights. We are in the heart of Little India.
My collaborator Steven reads aloud the entry on ’Light’ from the Encyclopedia Britannica while I place glass jars over the flames, extinguishing them one by one. Gradually, darkness as well as silence falls.
